Thanks to all that posted comments giving me the suggestion to write this post. I have collapsed it down to a few simple steps using diskpart. I think these commands are all available in Vista but I am not sure and I do not have a vista machine available for testing. I am not certain of the changes from earlier versions of the OS. These instructions will be identical for Windows 7. I ran this on a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 machine. ![]() And recent surveys suggest that although most people still prefer paper-especially when reading intensively-attitudes are changing as tablets and e-reading technology improve and reading digital books for facts and fun becomes more common. Studies published since the early 1990s, however, have produced more inconsistent results: a slight majority has confirmed earlier conclusions, but almost as many have found few significant differences in reading speed or comprehension between paper and screens. ![]() Before 1992 most studies concluded that people read slower, less accurately and less comprehensively on screens than on paper. ![]() Since at least the 1980s researchers in many different fields-including psychology, computer engineering, and library and information science-have investigated such questions in more than one hundred published studies. As digital texts and technologies become more prevalent, we gain new and more mobile ways of reading-but are we still reading as attentively and thoroughly? How do our brains respond differently to onscreen text than to words on paper? Should we be worried about dividing our attention between pixels and ink or is the validity of such concerns paper-thin? Nevertheless, the video brings into focus an important question: How exactly does the technology we use to read change the way we read? How reading on screens differs from reading on paper is relevant not just to the youngest among us, but to just about everyone who reads-to anyone who routinely switches between working long hours in front of a computer at the office and leisurely reading paper magazines and books at home to people who have embraced e-readers for their convenience and portability, but admit that for some reason they still prefer reading on paper and to those who have already vowed to forgo tree pulp entirely. Today's so-called digital natives still interact with a mix of paper magazines and books, as well as tablets, smartphones and e-readers using one kind of technology does not preclude them from understanding another. Young children who have never seen a tablet like the iPad or an e-reader like the Kindle will still reach out and run their fingers across the pages of a paper book they will jab at an illustration they like heck, they will even taste the corner of a book. Or maybe she had no expectations at all-maybe she just wanted to touch the magazines. Perhaps his daughter really did expect the paper magazines to respond the same way an iPad would. "Magazines are now useless and impossible to understand, for digital natives"-that is, for people who have been interacting with digital technologies from a very early age. "Technology codes our minds," he writes in the video's description. The girl's father, Jean-Louis Constanza, presents "A Magazine Is an iPad That Does Not Work" as naturalistic observation-a Jane Goodall among the chimps moment-that reveals a generational transition. When nothing happens, she pushes against her leg, confirming that her finger works just fine-or so a title card would have us believe. In the following scenes she appears to pinch, swipe and prod the pages of paper magazines as though they too were screens. In a viral YouTube video from October 2011 a one-year-old girl sweeps her fingers across an iPad's touchscreen, shuffling groups of icons. ![]() Parallels Desktop Crack Free Download revived search engines and worked to make Overwatch appear in Blizzard’s first-person. Once the loaf is completely cooled I like to cut the whole loaf into slices and then store in a large ziplock bag or bread bag. It will bake for the same amount of time. Instead I just roll up the loaf and let rise as suggested. I just skip the part where you add the butter, sugar and cinnamon. I like to use this same recipe to make a plain white loaf. If you love cinnamon raisin bread you could sprinkle about a ½ cup of raisins on top of the cinnamon sugar mixture right before rolling it up. Allow to cool completely before cutting, or it will collapse. Remove from pan immediately onto a cooling rack and brush the top with a little extra butter. At the time of this briefing being written, 52 out of 58 California Counties are operating under under Tier 1, the most restrictive tier, which covers over 99% of the state population. ![]() Should you have specific questions or like additional guidance to ensure compliance with the evolving re-opening requirements, please feel free to contact Tom Lee, Dylan Kornbluth, or the COVID-19 Reopening Team.California is currently operating under the Blueprint for a Safer Economy and a series of industry- and activity-specific guidance. We will continue to provide updates as the state clarifies and adds to the criteria and guidance under the new reopening plan. Regardless of whether a business is reopening or continuing to operate, it should also (1) review the state’s Employer Playbook, (2) comply with the reopening guidance for its specific industry, (3) conduct a risk assessment, and develop a COVID-19 Response Plan for each worksite, retail location, office, or other place of business, (4) train employees, (5) implement screening, disinfection, and distancing protocols, (6) require face covering subject to certain exemptions, and (7) post a checklist of all of the above at its facilities. What can California businesses do to continue operating and minimize their risk?īusinesses in California should determine what tier their county falls under, and evaluate whether they need to modify their operations in response to the restrictions in the new statewide plan. The table below provides a detailed description of how businesses are allowed to operate in each tier. What does this mean for California Businesses? In connection with such regression, the applicable county will have no more than three days to implement any sector changes or closures. To progress to a less restrictive tier, a county must have (i) been within its current tier for a minimum of three consecutive weeks, and (ii) met the criteria for the less restrictive tier for the prior two consecutive weeks.Ī county can also regress to a more restrictive tier if such county’s adjusted case rate and/or test positivity has been within a more restrictive tier for two consecutive week periods. The state is also expected to add a third criteria requiring the county to satisfy certain health equity measures including data collection, testing access, contact tracing, supportive isolation, and outreach that demonstrates a county’s ability to address the most impacted communities within a county. The Testing Positivity Percentage is based on the percentage of positive tests in the county during the 7-day trailing period. The Adjusted Case Rate is based on the 7 day average number of cases per 100,000 people during the 7 day trailing period. What are the tiers, and how do counties progress through them?Įach county’s tier is currently assessed based on two metrics: (i) Adjusted Case Rate and (ii) Testing Positivity Percentage. The stated intent of the plan is to be “statewide, stringent and slow,” and to impose uniform limits on what businesses can be open depending on a county’s infection rates.Īs of September 8, 2020, nearly one-half of California’s counties are in the most restrictive tier. The new plan provides for a four-tier system in which counties must show consistent progress in reducing the transmission of the coronavirus before allowing for greater flexibility in the reopening of businesses, schools, and resuming group activities. On August 28, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom unveiled a new plan for the reopening of California’s economy following the closures ordered in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which replaced the county watch list system that was previously in effect.
